The Pilar was recruited by the United States government when they discovered the secrets his genius brain was scientifically researching.  The Pilar hesitantly joined the FBI but changed his mind when he came part of scientific research on metahumans.  Here his path crossed with Mirage and together they escaped the governments hold and went into underground hiding. Together they recruit and assist metahumans who have gone rogue, trying to lead them to a new path.
